Please access free staff training to implement the Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag – helping it to become part of a standard approach to care and treatment for all disabled people. Watch this film about what reasonable adjustments are and the type of reasonable adjustments people with a learning disability and autistic people might need. Sign-up process for the autumn/winter 24/25 COVID-19 vaccination service All primary care providers that wish to deliver the COVID-19 Vaccination Service from their healthcare premises from 1 September 2024 must sign up to do so by completing an online form on the NHSBSA webpage by 23:59 on 27 June 2024. Potential providers should read the Contractual Agreements and Site Sign-up Process Guidance, which outline the process and deadlines, before submitting a response. Report highlights rise in cases of type 2 diabetes in the under 40s Diabetes UK published the Reverse the Trend - Reducing type 2 diabetes in young people report on 22 May, highlighting the rise in cases of type 2 diabetes among people aged under 40. The NHS Type 2 Diabetes in the Young (T2Day) service initiative is a nationally funded intervention that offers additional protected time for this cohort and an opportunity to optimise referral to programmes, such as Pathway to Type 2 Diabetes Remission and the Healthy Living programme. General practice New ‘how to’ guides to support modern general practice As part of the Delivery Plan for Recovering Access to Primary Care, NHS England has published four ‘how to’ guides to support general practice teams to:
The guides provide know-how and learning from practices and primary care networks (PCNs) across the country about tested new systems, processes and approaches that are helping the transformation to modern general practice. They complement the existing ‘creating highly usable and accessible GP website for patients’ guide and support practices and PCNs to adapt this shared knowledge to their local context and realise benefits more quickly and easily. General Practice Vaccinations Data Dashboard – MMR programme data The General Practice Vaccinations Data Dashboard has been extended to include MMR vaccination programme data. This optional tool can be used to support your operational and audit activities with ability to set up views for your practice groupings. The summary tables, charts and patient downloads are designed to help you review MMR coverage, and enable analysis of the data based on age, sex, valid/invalid doses and whether patients have received national call and recall reminders. To access the dashboard, you will need a Care Identity authenticator, usually a smartcard. See guidance on how to access the dashboard. Dentistry Dental recovery plan: Updating NHS.uk profiles Dental practice teams who have taken up the new patient premium offer in the Dental recovery plan are being reminded to update their profiles on NHS.uk. The Dental recovery plan is making it easier for patients to find practices that can see them due to additional capacity. Thank you to those practices that have already updated their NHS.uk profiles. Information on how to update profile information can be found in the NHSBSA dental bulletin. Get involved Learning Disability Week 2024 Its Learning Disability Week (17-23 June). Tom Cahill, National Director for Learning Disability and Autism, NHS England asks colleagues working across the NHS to think about what more they can do to support people with a learning disability to receive the right care and support in this short film. ‘Genomics in the NHS: How far we’ve come, and how far we’ll go’ The national Genomics Education Programme is running its annual #GenomicsConversation, 24-28 June. The week-long online event aims to raise awareness of the significance of genomics for all healthcare professionals, not just genomics specialists, and present opportunities to learn more. This year’s theme is ‘Genomics in the NHS: How far we’ve come, and how far we’ll go’. Activities throughout the week will explore the journey of genomics in healthcare and highlight how genomics is being used today, with opportunities to discover what it means in the workplace.
